Seclusion and restraint - Management of violent behaviors.

Profile

Caroline Larue's research focuses on the decision to seclude with or without restraint, the psychiatric environment of post-seclusion, as well as the use and promotion of alternative measures to prevent the use of control measures. She is director of the Center for Studies on Control Measures in MentalHhealth and a Member of the Committee for evaluation of the application of control measures (CEAPIC).

 Grants and honours

  • Implementation of an early detection tool of aggressive behavior (CIHR, Principal Investigator, 2011-2013)
  • Collaboration with families/community organizations in the creation and implementation of an innovative training program on aggressive management of relatives with mental disorders (IRSC-PASS, Principal Investigator, 2011-2013).
  • Effects of the use of an assessment instrument of aggressive behavior on the implementation of control measures in a population hospitalized in a psychiatric intensive care unit (GRIISIQ, 2010-2011, Principal Investigator, 2010-2011).
  • Integrated knowledge application in the field of isolation and restraint (CIHR, Principal Investigator, 2009-2010).
